Sailing Instruction for Ages 8 TO 18

Our small Lake Viridian with sailing in sight of the dock is a perfect environment for learning the fundamentals of sailing. You will be introduced to all the important parts of sailboats as well as wind strength, wind direction, flotation fundamentals, and basic weather influences on sailing. Mostly, you will learn by doing, experiencing how the wind moves a sailboat. Sailing Lessons and Camps include hands-on, investigative and experience-based curriculum taught by our knowledgeable US Sailing certified instructors.

PLEASE CHECK OUR EVENTS PAGE FOR CAMP OPPORTUNITIES

After completing summer sailing camp, participants are eligible to purchase a Junior Sailing Pass to have full access to our fleet and may be invited to join our Youth Sailing Team, The Viridian Voyagers, with weekly coaching and the opportunity to compete at area youth regattas. See all the fun activities of our Viridian Voyagers on Instagram with the QR code link below.

Age Requirements: For the safety of all participants, children must be at least five (5) years of age to participate in a scenic sail or eight (8) years of age for youth sailing camps. Because sailing involves inherent risks, including the possibility of a capsize, all participants must be able to swim or tread water independently, even while wearing a properly fitted life jacket. Children who do not meet these requirements are not eligible to participate, regardless of parental supervision. The participant or parent/legal guardian certifies that these minimum age and swimming ability requirements have been met.

Weather Policy: Viridian Sailing Center are weather-dependent. Safety is our highest priority. In the event of unsafe conditions, including lightning, severe weather, or insufficient wind for sailing, the Center may need to be closed and lessons or events postponed or cancelled. If an event a lesson or event cannot be conducted due to weather conditions, we will gladly work with you to reschedule for another date, subject to availability.

Cancellation and Refund Policy: Memberships and Regatta Registrations: Memberships and regatta registrations are non-refundable once purchased. Scenic Sail and Sailing Lessons: Because instructor time is reserved specifically for your booking, lessons are generally non-refundable once scheduled. In cases where a lesson must be canceled due to weather or other exceptional circumstances approved by the sailing center, we will make every effort to reschedule your lesson at a mutually convenient time. After booking, an instructor will contact you to confirm details and may request a slight adjustment to the lesson time if it helps accommodate existing scenic ride / sailing lesson schedules.
