The Viridian Voyagers Youth Race Team is more than a sailing program, it's an adventure. As the youth racing team of the Viridian Sailing Center, we're building confident sailors, lifelong friendships, and a passion for a sport that can be enjoyed for a lifetime.
Recognized as one of the premier youth sailing programs in Texas, the Voyagers compete throughout the state in the Texas Sailing Association Youth Circuit while providing an affordable, welcoming environment where every sailor can learn, grow, and succeed. Whether your child dreams of standing on the podium or simply loves being on the water, the Voyagers provide the coaching, camaraderie, and opportunities to help them reach their full potential.

Every practice brings a new adventure. Sailors learn to harness the wind, race against friends, master new skills, and experience the excitement of competitionall while making memories that last a lifetime.
As a Voyager, your sailor will:

A Program Designed for Growth
The Viridian Voyagers is a volunteer-led competitive youth sailing program for sailors ages 8 to 18. We welcome sailors who have demonstrated the basic skills needed to safely operate a sailboat and are members of the Viridian Sailing Center. Our experienced coaches and volunteers help every sailor continue developing both on and off the water. Safety is always our highest priority, and sailors progress through our program based on their experience, judgment, and sailing ability.
Red Fleet
Our newest racers begin here. Red Fleet sailors continue building confidence and fundamental sailing skills while practicing and sailing under the direct supervision of a coach on the water.
Yellow Fleet
As skills and experience grow, sailors move into Yellow Fleet. These sailors demonstrate greater independence and are permitted on the water with a coach or supervising adult nearby.
Green Fleet
Our most experienced and responsible sailors earn Green Fleet status. These sailors have demonstrated excellent judgment, seamanship, and boat-handling skills, allowing them to sail independently while being supervised from shore. Parents, coaches, or dock staff provide oversight, and children age 12 and under must always have a parent actively supervising.
Race Across Texas
The Voyagers proudly represent Viridian Sailing Center at youth regattas throughout Texas, competing against many of the state's best sailors. These events provide exciting opportunities to improve racing skills, build confidence, and create unforgettable memories with teammates. We also host our signature youth regatta, The Kessel Run, which brings talented young sailors from across North Texas together for an exciting day of competition and fun.
An Incredible Place to Sail
Viridian Sailing Center is home to one of the largest club-owned sailing fleets in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Members enjoy access to sailboats, kayaks, paddleboards, and a vibrant waterfront community unlike any other. When the racing is over, the fun continues. Families gather around the firepit, watch spectacular sunsets over the lake, share stories from the day's adventures, and enjoy the friendships that make the sailing community so special.
